How Towique Started

Towique began in early 2024, in a small apartment kitchen where the founder, a Hong Kong-based product designer, kept noticing the same small ritual play out every single day: someone would wash their hands, then reach for a towel that was damp, plain, or honestly just a little boring. It seemed like such a small thing, but it happened dozens of times a day, in every kitchen and bathroom, for basically everyone.

That observation turned into a question: what if the towel hanging by your sink could actually make you smile instead of just getting the job done? Not something loud or over-designed, just a small, well-made object that adds a bit of warmth to a moment most people never think twice about.

From there, Towique came together as a small team of three — a product designer, a textile specialist who had spent years sourcing fabric for home goods brands, and a friend with a background in customer support who insisted, from day one, that people should be able to reach a real person if something wasn't right. None of us set out to build a big company. We wanted to make one category of product — hand towels — genuinely more enjoyable to use, and to do it in a way that felt honest about what we were selling and who we were.

Why We Chose Hand Towels

It might seem like an unusual thing to build a whole brand around, but that's kind of the point. Hand towels are one of the most-touched, most-used items in any home, and yet they rarely get much thought. We wanted to take something so ordinary and give it a little personality — playful shapes, soft coral fleece, a hanging loop so it never ends up on the floor. Small details, but ones that make a repetitive daily task feel a little less routine.

We also liked that this was a product we could stand fully behind. It's simple enough that we can control the details closely, from the stitching to the packaging, and it's something almost every household actually needs. There's no gimmick here — just a product we genuinely wanted to exist, made by people who use it themselves every day.

What We Believe

We think home goods don't have to be flashy to matter. A towel doesn't need to shout for attention; it just needs to be there, doing its small job well, and maybe brightening your countertop or bathroom wall while it's at it. We care more about whether a design makes someone smile on a Tuesday morning than whether it looks impressive in a photo.

We also believe that being a small, independent brand means we get to actually listen. If a customer tells us a design idea, a color request, or a concern about their order, a real person on our team sees it — not a ticket number lost in a queue.
